everyone there!

St. Joseph Catholic Church will join Catholic Churches across the country in celebrating Catechetical
Sunday the weekend of September 15-16th. This annual event highlights the importance of solid
catechetical ministry in our Catholic Church. The theme of this year’s observance is
Encountering
the Living Christ.

The final opportunity to attend the mandatory Diocesan Safe Environment for Children Seminar will
be offered on November 10th @ St. Theresa Hall @ 10am.  Parishioners whose ministry is exercised
in the presence of youth are required to attend the initial two hour training session and, after that,
are required to attend a one hour continuing education seminar every year.

Our St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus will hold their red beans & rice fundraiser on Sunday,
September 16th, at St. Theresa Hall.

Our Catholic Daughters will have a cake sale on Sunday, September 16th,
from 7am—12noon.  Catholic Daughter members are asked to please volunteer
to help out during this fundraiser.

Our St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus will also host their Tailgating Cook-Off on
Sunday, October 21st, at the Loreauville Park.  Raffle tickets are available from any KC member for
the Pro Drive 18 foot boat with 36 hp motor & trailer.

A reminder:  there will not be evening Vesper Prayers on this Sunday, Sept. 2nd, @ St. Joseph’s.

There will be a Blood Drive for parishioner Richard Guillotte, who is awaiting a liver transplant, on
Sunday, September 16th, @ St. Theresa Hall from 8am—2pm.  Give the gift of life to one of our
own!

Our Baptismal Seminar is held on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Our Lady of Victory Life

Lord Jesus, please send us many more holy priests, sisters, and brothers to serve
your people!

Our St. Joseph’s Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is in need of prayer partners to spend
time with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Call Karen Breaux (229-6440) or Brenda Berard (229-4564) for
more info.

As you probably have noticed, we have been asking for new Eucharistic Adorers to sign up for a
number of months now.  Thus far, we have gotten very few responses.  In order to assure that
our Lord Jesus Christ is not left alone exposed in our Adoration Chapel, I may  be forced to reduce
the number of hours that the Chapel is open.  Presently, our Chapel is open seven days a week
from 6am—10pm.  In order to spread out our current Adorers to cover the many non-committed
hours, we may have to open the Chapel later each day or close the Chapel earlier each day.  Please
let me know if anyone has any suggestions to solve our Adorer shortage problem.  Thanks a
lot!
Fr. Mario

The next meeting of our St. Joseph’s Junior High Youth Group (for grades 6th—8th) will be held on
this Sunday, September 2nd, @ 4:45pm.  High school students who would like to help out are
asked to please attend this meeting.  Thanks!
Mrs. Jeanne Stiles

We are in need of additional Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors to serve at 10am and 7pm Masses on
Sundays.  To serve in these capacities, a parishioner must complete the Diocesan Safe Environment
for Children program. If you are interested in serving Jesus in these ministries, please call our Church
office @ 229-4254.

The Iberia Parish Registrar of Voters has provided informational packets to us regarding voter
registration.  These can be found in the lobby of our Church.

Our Church offices will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd.  We will re-open again on
Tuesday, September 4th.  Have a great holiday!

Our second collection at next weekend’s Masses will be for our St. Joseph’s Building & Maintenance
Fund, which stays here in our Parish.
