First Communion and Confirmation parents will register at the mandatory parent’s meeting on Sept. 6th
@ 6:30pm in our Church Hall.

We are in urgent need of Catechism teachers for 7th (2), 8th (2), & 9th (2) grades.   If you are a
practicing Catholic, can you please pray about sharing one hour of your time per week to help spiritually
form our young people?

The final mandatory Diocesan Safe Environment for Children Continuing Education Seminar will be offered
on November 10th @ St. Theresa Hall @ 10am.  Parishioners whose ministry is exercised in the presence
of youth are required to attend the initial two hour training session and, after that, are required to
attend a one-hour continuing education seminar every year.

Our St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus will hold their red beans &
rice fundraiser on Sunday, September 16th and their Tailgating
Cook-Off on Sunday, October 21st.  Raffle tickets are available
from any KC member for the Pro Drive 18 foot boat with 36 hp
motor & trailer.  The drawing will be held at the Tailgating Cook-Off.

There will be a practice for boys & girls (3rd grade or older) who would like to become altar servers
following the First Saturday Mass on September 1st.  For more information call Joel & Fran Dugas @ 229-
4896.

There will not be Evening Vesper Prayers on Sunday, Sept. 2nd, @ St. Joseph’s.

Fr. Paul Onuegbe will celebrate his 12th anniversary of Ordination
to the Priesthood on Monday, August 27th @ 5:30pm at Our
Lady of Victory Church.  A light reception will follow the Mass.
All are invited to attend!  Thanks, Fr. Paul, for all that you do for
us!

Our Baptismal Seminar is held on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Our Lady of Victory Life Center.
Parents & Godparents must attend this class before the Baptism of their baby.  The next class is
scheduled for Monday, September 13th, @ 6:30pm.  Please call our Church office to register.

The pilgrim statues of Our Lady of Fatima will be at the homes of the Basil Borel family and the Brenda
Berard family. If you would like one of the pilgrim statues to visit your home call Sylvia (229-6166) or
Carolyn (229-6492).

The Vocations Chalice will be in the home of the Oswald Anthony family this week.
Lord Jesus, please send us many more holy priests, sisters, and brothers to serve your people!

Our St. Joseph’s Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is in need of prayer partners to spend time with our Lord
Jesus Christ.  Call Karen Breaux (229-6440) or Brenda Berard (229-4564) for more info.

As you probably have noticed, we have been asking for new Eucharistic Adorers to sign up for a number
of months now.  Thus far, we have gotten very few responses.  In order to assure that our Lord Jesus
Christ is not left alone exposed in our Adoration Chapel, I may be forced to reduce the number of hours
that the Chapel is open.  Presently, our Chapel is open seven days a week from 6am—10pm.  In order to
spread out our current Adorers to cover the many non-committed hours, we may have to open the
Chapel later each day or close the Chapel earlier each day.  Please let me know if anyone has any
suggestions to solve our Adorer shortage problem.  Thanks a lot!
Fr. Mario

Any young people in grades 6th — 8th who are interested in joining our St. Joseph Junior High Youth
Group are asked to contact Jeanne Stiles @ 229-1982.  The next meeting will be held on Sunday,
September 2nd, @ 4:45pm.  Any high school students interested in helping out are asked to please
attend this meeting.  Thanks!
Jeanne Stiles

We are in need of additional Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors to serve at 10am and 7pm Masses on
Sundays.  To serve in these capacities, a parishioner must complete the Diocesan Safe Environment for
Children program.   If you are interested in serving Jesus in these ministries, please call our Church office
@ 229-4254.

Volunteers who wish to work in hurricane shelters will be trained on Thursday,
August 30th, from 6pm—8:30pm @ St. Peter’s Church Hall in New Iberia. The
training will be conducted by the Red Cross of Iberia.  Please call the Diocesan
Office of Justice & Peace @ 261-5564 for more information.

Our Church offices will be closed on Labor Day (Mon., Sept. 3rd).  We will re-open
on Tues., Sept. 4th.
