“MySpace.Com” is an internet website that is popular among
many young people.  On this website can be found various
“chat rooms” and “home pages” where people can send
messages and photos to one another.

A few weeks ago, I was told of an incident that occurred in our area and I wanted to see if I could
find any information about the incident on MySpace.Com          (sometimes young people will post
videos of various events so that anyone with a computer can view them).

Having never visited this website before, I typed in “Loreauville, Louisiana” in the Search Box and was
very surprised at what information came up!  A number of local Loreauville students have posted
photos of themselves, along with information about their hometown, their personal interests, etc…

There is a current television series called “To Catch a Predator” that shows undercover stings of
pedophiles who hang out on websites such as MySpace.Com and look for young people to meet.

I encourage every parent to visit MySpace.Com and do a search for your child’s name and
“Loreauville, LA” in the Search Box.  Many of our young people don’t realize how much danger that
they could be exposing themselves to!
Fr. Mario
