appreciated! We are in need of bingo gifts, sugar & pecans. Bingo will be from 12:30pm—3:30pm. St. Joseph’s parishioners

than last year!

A few parishioners have asked me if the donations that they give to have Masses said for their loved ones stay in our Church
Parish. The answer is: “very little”. The priest who celebrates a weekday Mass receives five dollars from all of the monies that
were received for that day’s Mass. (For example: Fr. Paul normally celebrates weekday Mass on Monday and Tuesday
mornings and Wednesday and Friday evenings. For these four Masses he receives a total of $20 from all of the offerings
received for those days. Fr. Mario normally celebrates Mass on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. For these three
Masses he receives $15 from all of the offerings received for those days.) All monies received for weekend Masses and all
other monies in excess of $5 received for weekday Masses is sent to the Diocese of Lafayette (who forwards the money to
the foreign missions). This procedure is followed in every Parish in the Diocese of Lafayette. If you would like your donations
to stay in our Church Parish, please donate to our first collection at our weekend Masses. Thanks for your generous support
of our local Church Parish!
Fr. Mario
