Our R.C.I.A. Program is an adult educational program for adults who wish to join our
Catholic Church or for baptized Catholics who wish to receive the Sacraments of First
Communion and/or Confirmation.  The seven Thursday night classes taught by Deacon
Chris Doumit started on January 11th @ 7pm.  For more information or to sign up,

With Praise and Thanksgiving to Almighty God our Father the Diocese of Lafayette
joyfully announces the Ordination of Darren James Eldridge to the Sacred Order of
Deacon through the Invocation of the Holy Spirit and the Laying on of Hands by His
Excellency The Most Reverend Michael Jarrell, D.D. Bishop of Lafayette on Saturday,
the 13th of January, 2007 in at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Lafayette.

We welcome Deacon Darren Eldridge to his 1st Mass as an ordained Deacon on this
Sunday, January 14th, @ 10am.  Congratulations, Darren, we are proud of you and
continue to pray for you in your journey to the Priesthood!

The Lafayette Diocese South Region “March for Life” will take place on Monday, Jan.
22nd, at 5:30pm beginning at the Grotto on Main St. and ending at St. Peter’s Church.  
The March will be followed by a Mass for Life and a Five Day Eucharistic Rosary
Congress.  There will be 5 days of Perpetual Adoration with the Pro-Life Rosary recited
every hour on the hour.  Please help fill the hours of prayer needed by signing up on
the charts located in the main vestibule of our Church.  For more information please

Our Baptismal Seminar is held on the 2nd Monday
of each month at the Our Lady of Victory Life Center.  
Parents & Godparents must attend this class before
the Baptism of their baby.  The next class is scheduled
for Monday, January 15th, @ 6:30pm.

St. Edward Catholic Elementary School, founded in 1918 by St. Katharine Drexel, will
hold open registration for the 2007-2008 school years on Monday, Feb. 12th, from 5:
30pm - 6:30pm.  St. Edward’s proudly serves grades Pre-K through 3rd in the New
Iberia community.  

I will take some vacation time from January 14th-23rd.  I’ll see y’all when I

The following listed graves in St. Joseph Cemetery (Loreauville, Louisiana) have been
declared unfit for human burial and are due care by repair, renovation and/or
reconstruction.  

If no legal claimant comes forward by August 1, 2007, with the intention to assume all
responsibility which ownership implies, St. Joseph Catholic Church 229-4254, will
presume the space(s) abandoned and will claim ownership of listed spaces and
proceed accordingly.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the Diocesan Office of Vocations will hold a Vocations
Supper for Young Women at 6:30pm at the residence of Bishop Jarrell.  For more

The Vocations Chalice will be in the home of Kevin and Tina Hebert this week.

Friends Day is scheduled for Saturday, January 20th, @ the Community of Jesus
Crucified (located at 421 1/2 Carmel Drive in Lafayette) @ 9am.  All are invited,

The Lafayette Diocesan Office of Family Life Ministry is again sponsoring the Marriage
Anniversary Celebration to honor couples who have been married 25, 40, 50, 60 or
more years.  Only the above mentioned years will be honored (no in-between years will
be accepted).  The celebration will be held on Sunday, February 22nd, @ 2pm @ Our
Queen of Angels Church in Opelousas.  Couples who wish to be honored must register
no later than Wednesday, January 31st.  Registrations will not be accepted at the door
